Hello friends!! How are you all doing today? I hope that you've had a productive and/or relaxing and enjoyable day! :D This morning I woke up with the intention of having Ashley's exact recipe for Farro, but ended up loading it with toppings. :P
Farro is a type of grain that is commonly eaten in Italy. It tastes somewhat nutty, yet rice-like. I loved the texture of it because while it is still chewy, it's not overly so. It's just right, and perhaps a tad bit less harder to chew than say, wheat berries. My jaws thanked me today haha! Mangia!!
Greg and I had some plans to go for a full day of hiking on the San Gabriel Mountains, but those plans were delightfully changed because we ended up going somewhere else....
Can you guess where we went and why we went there??!! :)
Should I give you a clue? Nahhhh try to have fun figuring it out hehe.
Aren't those lily pads just gorgeous?! I leaped, I screamed, I went crazy over them! Something about lily pads just makes me all giddy inside. Perhaps it makes me think of Disney films?
I just about fainted at the sight of this gazebo. I started to reminisce of my childhood days watching the Sound of Music!!! I have said it once, and I will say again. It's one of my favorite movies! One of my fave scenes is when Liesl dances with Rolf in the gazebo.
Did you guess yet...? Well, perhaps you need just one more peek. ;)
After this exciting excursion we finally headed over to the San Gabriel Mountains. Except, we ended up getting lost!! Hahaha this really cracks me up because it is the story of our lives. :D Hey, at least we can understand each other! We've kind of come to accept our "direction illiteracy".
Since I don't have a cooler-type of lunchbox, I just filled a little ziplock bag with ice and put the dates in another baggie. Then, I put the dates in the ice bag. Ta-da! This helps with the coconut butter staying intact.
Once we finally arrived, we skipped the trails (it was time for sunset) and headed straight to the river. The water was so pristine, and as we tippy-toed our way through the slippery rocks, we found ourselves stopping to take in the beauty around us--not to mention, the water was so cold and refreshing on our toes.
I have to admit that on our way to the mountains, we started to get frustrated inside because we kept going around and around. Actually, we were more nervous than anything else, because we were also low on gas and there was no station to be found.
Greg and I didn't argue because that's not the norm for us. We always try to see each others' perspectives and talk things out. Perhaps when we are married things will be different? I mean, I don't want to sound like I'm boasting about this--especially since I know there will be just as many hard times as there will be good times. I believe that if we practice those good habits now though, we will do well in the future also. And besides, God is with us and He will help us every step of the way.
After we got to our destination, something inside us changed and we knew that all was well. We just thanked and praised God for His genius creativity and beautiful masterpiece! I mean, how in the world did the mountains come to be?! The logical answer is easy--God just spoke the word and so it was. It is truly ironic how small of a speck we all are. Yet in the midst of such a vast creation, we are so easily shaken and distrusting of the God who loves us more than all the galaxies put together. Mind boggling, I say!!
I'm so so so very excited for tomorrow because before church service we're going to an engaged couples' group meeting!! Wheeeeeeeeee!!
I have no idea what we are going to do, but I'm tres joyeuse regardless. I am looking forward to what the Lord will teach us through it. :D
Have you guessed what those photos are for?!
-If you guess correctly, I will give you a serious hug and pound your fist
What are some new grains that you're wanting to give a try?
Do you feel like you're quick to say things when there's tension in the air? Or more reflective?
-I'm definitely one to think things through, and then say something if needed. Otherwise, I stay quiet.
P.S: My "sleep before 12" challenge started out well, and I'm slowly falling back again. But I'm still doing rather well, which is way better than I expected! :)
I've been loving these...
Love you guys so much!
