Aloha amigos!! How is the start of your weekend? Would you believe me if I told you that I spent a ginormous chunk of my day baking yesterday, July 1st?
You see, Greg and I make our best efforts to somehow celebrate or at least acknowledge the 1st of every month. I once mentioned that we started dating on April Fools' Day, so as often as we get the chance, we go out somewhere to eat or walk around the beach. :D
In honor of our "kind-of anniversary" of dating for 3 years and 3 months, I decided to make the Pioneer Woman's Cinnamon Rolls because that's one of Greg's favorite, most nostalgic treats his mom used to make every weekend.
Errr the not so pretty side to this? :P You may be wondering why they look so funky here!!
Confession: It was my first time making cinnamon rolls and I've only tried it 2 times, maybe even 3!!
Also, I was certain that I had all the ingredients on hand, but turns out that I had to end up using mostly Whole Wheat Pastry Flour in lieu of regular white! Oops.
Also, I realized that I needed far more confectioner's sugar in order to make the frosting--watery frosting (but delicious, mind you!) was made.
Oh I know!! I'll be making coconut butter frosting this weekend perhaps. *AHEM* The recipe stated that it makes 8 servings. I didn't realize that I would have a whole bowl's worth of dough left. WHAT SHOULD I MAKE WITH THE REMAINING DOUGH?!
So we went out to celebrate at Urth Caffe, wheeee!!! (Please don't get tired and leave because this is like, my 4th time mentioning the place!)
Greg started to wear studs again, and I've never seen him with earrings before!! I think he looks rather handsome in them. :)
I had the Prosciutto Panini With a Spinach Salad while Greg ordered The Urth Quesadilla. They were to die for. ;)
Afterward, we headed down to Manhattan Beach and it was beautiful! The sea breeze was perfectly cool as was the nice, fluffy sand.
Hmm...I'm beginning to see a pattern of some sort of "oddity" within us. Like this day...
Don't judge. I hope you still accept us! But I truly love that we can be fools in front of each other. Doesn't that make life more fun anyway?
Ahhh finally a normal one! Oh wait there's more.
He's a rebel I tell ya.
I can't help that I'm so wild! ;)
And apparently I don't need my right arm! Where did thouest go?!
Greg has such a sweet tooth that he wanted to share a cookie dough ice cream at the Manhattan Creamery...
Which makes me feel better about my dessert overload as of late. Teehee!!
I am truly so thankful that God has sent me such a wonderful man into my life!! You see, I never went out to look for him, but the Lord sent him to find me.
I believe that as we wait upon the Lord, He gives us the BEST that we can ever have because He just knows us more than we do ourselves.
What have I done to deserve this love? To deserve this man and best friend?! I conclude that I have done nothing at all. It was all by God's Grace!! (Grace is what I don't deserve, yet I get showered upon with goodness)
My friends, this is NOT meant to make you envious or hopeless about finding that "someone" in your life! I want you to know that God has already planned the beautiful individual for you because He only wants His best. :) We just have to be....PATIENT.
I ain't no expert in regards to relationships and marriage--but one thing I do know is that sharing values, spiritual faith, and world views is of utmost essence when it comes to working things out in a relationship.
What do you love about your significant other? Or, what do you hope to love about them in particular?
Any 4th of July plans?
-Greg's friend Tony may be coming from SF and we'll go see fireworks!! Wheee
Favorite ice cream flavor?!
-Mine is black cherry, pistachio, and mint choc chip!
