Hi guys! How is your weekend so far? It is already a new week, kind of hard to believe ey?! :) This week, I had the chance to meet up with an old friend and catch up on life.
Chalise and I met in college about 2.5 years ago, and for a while we have been attempting to get together. It wasn't easy to set up a date since we live about 40 minutes away from each other. Besides, you know when life just tends to fly by ever so quickly? Yea. That totally happened.
"Distance makes the heart grow fonder"....haha! Maybe this is really true, because we had a great time sharing about everything that God is doing in our lives. In some ways, we even felt more comfortable with each other than we did back then.
Of course, being the self-proclaimed foodies and health nuts that we are, we just had to go to the Tranquil Tea Lounge in Downtown Fullerton. Wheeee!
We talked for at least 2.5 hours over some good ole' natural tea.
The Tranquil Tea Lounge is a really cute place with a cool and soothing atmosphere. They even sell artwork made by students and hang them up on the walls!
This was such a perfect place for Chalise because she not only sings beautifully, but she also draws and paints. I suggested that she try and sell one of her masterpieces to the Tranquil Tea Lounge. :D
I ordered the Sakura Tea, which is an infusion of cherry pieces and green tea. It wasn't as cherry-ish as I had expected, but still refreshing nonetheless. You bet I had to use the restroom one too many times!
Chalise had the Mocha Chocolate Chai Tea, which tasted nothing like chocolate! She was just surprised because she had different expectations. Aren't expectations so funny like that?! :P
Even then, the teas themselves were of very high quality, and most importantly, we enjoyed our time together.
I am ever so grateful that I will never be without meeting friends and catching up with old ones.
However, I am also infinitely grateful for the new buddies and friends that I have found in fellow bloggers!
Tessa is an example of a blogger who is constantly tugging at my heart with her sweetness and transparency. She is constantly on a quest for further inner healing and finding her true identity.
She recently tagged me with a cute award+survey, and I thought that it would be fun to tell you a little more about myself! At least, I think it will be fun? Yes, yes for sure....Okay, just bear with me and play along! ;)
Name your favorite color: My favorite color is GREEEEEEEEEEEEN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Almost any green! Particularly, pastel green and olive green! Can you tell I love green? (And I love redundancy?)
Name your favorite song: Oh gosh...I have so many! I have to say that my favorite songs are mostly praise/worship songs because they are just so raw and uplifting! Some of those are, Desert Song by Brooke Fraser/Hillsong, This is Home (Switchfoot's song), and so many more! I also love Shadowfeet, Faithful, Something in the Water (all by Brooke), Lucky, I'm Yours (Jason Mraz), and Everything (Michael Buble). <--I kind of like the idea of playing this song for one of the dances at our wedding.
Name your favorite dessert: I have so many. Period. Haha, but really? I love cakes, any kind of cake! You just name it (just ask Greg). I am a cake fiend and a pumpkin pie monster. Also, frozen yogurt makes my belly smile, and one of my all time favorites is Alfajores (an Argentine cookie-like treat filled with dulce de leche). I deem these as my favorite desserts because they bring such great memories of great people in my life.
What wizzes you off: There are a few things that are probably pretty common: When drivers don't turn on their blinkers, when pick-up truckers act like they own the road and snarl at others, bad prejudices and mean racial jokes, when people bring each other down with words/actions, and loud chomping. :P
When you’re upset you: Take a reeeeallllyyyy deep breath, calm myself down, and just spill it all unto God. I mean, I know He can totally handle anything and everything that I am going through. When I talk to Him, and hopefully attempt to listen to Him as well, my heart becomes at ease because He is the One that gives me peace.
I know that in the end, I can't just rely on myself to solve the problem, and I definitely can't always spill everything unto other people, though it is good to do that sometimes as well. After bringing it to the Lord, I find that it really helps to talk to Greg or someone who doesn't only sympathize with me, but hopefully shows me an unbiased perspective as well. I believe that sympathetic listening along with reality checks from loved ones is really good for the soul.
Your favorite pet: Although I didn't have too many pets, and the ones that I did have were given away without my "consent", the one that ultimately holds my heart is July! July was a female rabbit that I had at the end of junior high. *SNIFF* I miss her so much! She was so adorable, and I talked to her like she was my best friend. Of course, she would always give me this blank stare, but that's beside the point. Her eyes were "lined" with a black tint and she looked like she wore eyeliner. Unfortunately, we had to let her go because she was just getting too wild--so much so that she learned to free herself from the cage and thus, sporadically disappeared on us. My neighbors would always ask, "Is she eating my flowers again?!!"
Black or white: I usually choose black outfits over white ones because I am quite clumsy, and I always spill/stain myself with something. Of course, it's usually food or coffee.
Your biggest fear: Interesting! My pastor briefly shared about this today! I believe my biggest "fear" or "worry" is to someday realize everything that I should have/could have done. In particular, I don't want to have any regrets about not doing what God wants me to do in life. I understand that His Grace is enough and it does wash over every part of me, but out of my love and devotion to Him, I want to honor Him as much as I can, even in the smallest things.
Best feature: Hehe...I guess I have been told that my smile makes people really happy? And if that makes others happy, then I'd say my smile is my best feature! :D
Everyday attitude: I believe I am somewhat of a realistic individual, but I can also be idealistic when it comes to the big picture. Nevertheless, my overly positive attitude always outshines my realistic views. At least, that is what I have been realizing in my conversations with others. I think we all have a natural tendency to be more on the optimistic or not so optimistic side, but being too optimistic isn't always helpful either. Just like anything has its bright side+down side, too much optimism can make an individual seem "insensitive" to others. That is why I have people in my life who can balance me out, and as a result they help me stay grounded. Of course, I am really thankful that I can have a positive outlook on life, and I give a 100% credit to the Lord because apart from Him I have no joy whatsoever.
Without His love and help, I cannot do anything and I pretty much feel crippled. Sure, some may call that "a crutch". Well then, I guess I need a crutch and I'm not ashamed to admit it! :) I can say this with confidence because whenever I do things my way, I just end messing things up.
What is perfection: Quite the philosophical question...To keep it simple, I'll just sum it up with this: God Himself is perfection. His love is perfection. When Christ was walking this earth, He showed the example of perfection.
Guilty pleasure: Like Tessa, I am an exercise nut! The adrenaline pumping through my veins is so exhilarating! Wow...I sound scary haha. Shh..I am secretly Hulk's girlfriend.
Thank you so much for the survey Tessa!! It actually made me think pretty hard about some of the answers.
Please don't feel shy to answer some of these question y'all! Consider yourself tagged. :D Have a sweet Labor Day and take care!
