Hello there!~ The weather has finally begun to be more Autumn-like here in Socal. With the changing air and colorful trees, also comes the cold and flu season.
My beloved and [very sick] nephew Daniel has been super sick lately. Guess who caught the cold?! *raises hand shyly* I did. I admit that I also think I caught Daniel's cold because of insufficient sleep! Remember how we talked about how health isn't just about diet and exercise? Learn from me and get some good rest please! Unless you want your throat to feel like it has lava running through it.
In order to alleviate my cold and hopefully fight it off quickly, I just made myself a common "holistic" medicine that has been used by Koreans for thousands of years. It's Honey Lemon Ginger Tea! :)
I can remember that ever since I was a wee little girl, my mom used to make me drink this stuff--along with a bunch of other tried and true home remedies and some not-so-great ones that I believe are just myth. One thing I know for sure is that holistic medicine doctors love to use honey and ginger for their remedies. Now that tells me something about their benefits.
Honey Lemon Ginger Tea
- chunk or slice of lemon
- ginger--about the size of half of your thumb
- 1 TBSP of honey (I used Manuka Honey!)
- This is a cinch! Just boil water or microwave it. Then pour it into a cup.
- Mix the honey in the hot water.
- Poke holes in the ginger root and dunk it in the water.
- squeeze the lemon and with the peel on, put into water.
You want to make sure that all the flavors and juices infuse throughout the tea in order to reap the maximum benefits! If you would like to read further about the benefits of ginger and honey, you can click on the links. Enjoy!
I hope you are having a fine and healthy week everyone!
God bless y'all and talk to you soon.
P.S: I'm so excited for the Anatolian Festival this Saturday!!! It's going to be so fun--I just hope I'm strong and able to frolic around by then.
Do you have home remedy "secrets"?
Did your parents or loved ones make you drink home remedies when you were little, or am I the only weirdo? :P
