You know you're having fun if time zooms by in the blink of an eye. Today was one of those days. My friends (and bridesmaids) Susan, Emily, and I headed out to the South Coast Plaza mall to shop around for their dresses. My other bridesmaid AJ is still in Korea, so she was with us in spirit. :)
But before I go any further. Word to the wise!!!!
If or when you decide to get married and are about to look for bridesmaid dresses in actual bridal shops, then keep in mind that you have to go in at least 3 months in advance.
Hahaha...You see, I somehow had it in my mind that 2 months would give us plenty of time. Yesterday I called some of those stores that we originally had planned to visit, and the vendors informed me that it was already too late to order them. :( Talk about a mini-one-second heart attack!
But I decided to fear not. After all, places like Macy's, Nordstrom, H&M have everything we need right?
So this brings me back to the main point of the story. We shopped around South Coast Plaza for at least an hour before we saw a beacon of light. Since my main color for the wedding is somewhat sage-ish and citron-ish green, it was quite difficult to find the right shade for the girls. Also, due to their own personal reasons we decided that the styles don't have to be the same so long as the colors are.
We "saw the light" when we arrived at Banana Republic. This BR was pretty large and carried a variety of selections, and who knew that they carried so many beautiful dresses?!
As I was waiting for S+E to get all dressed up, I decided to take advantage of the nice lighting by the mirror, hehehe.
I love over sized shirts! And even more so when they're cheap because I usually refuse to purchase clothes that aren't on sale. This one was on sale for $10 at Target. ;)

As soon as they came out I went berserk over how beautiful they looked in these pretty green dresses! Berserk is an understatement, as the color and chiffon material were exactly what suits my palate.
The only gripe I have about these? They are at a price tag of $175 a piece.
Just so that we could have more peace of mind about the prices, we decided to shop around some more. We then ended up at David's Bridal in Costa Mesa and they tried on these beauties:
Although the hues are completely off, we thought that at least they should know if they even like the styles. If that were the case, then we could order their favorite ones in green.
Ah! Aren't the boots just adorable with the dress?
Everything looked so gorgeous on these two pretty ladies. To their surprise, they ended up liking the complete opposites of what they initially wanted. For example, Susan only likes dresses with straps, but her favorite ended up being the blue strapless one. Yup, we women are complex like that. ;)
Then abracadabra and a little switcheroo...
Unfortunately, we still weren't sure if these were the ones because AJ has different "needs". Therefore, since we still want uniform colors, we are going to keep searching for one more week or so.
Once again, as long as you don't decide to buy dresses at bridal stores, the 3 month in advance factor shouldn't be too big of a problem. Hopefully with this knowledge, you can avoid a mini one-second heart attack like the one I had.
The other day, my extremely picky momma and I went to get her dress. I was rather aware of her pickyness and thought that it would take a month for her to make a decision.
Well once again, assumptions were demolished as soon as she tried this on:
My jaw dropped as I have never seen her wear a dress! I am so happy that she gets to experience something like this with me, because I know how much she longs for us to spend some time together.
I am beyond grateful because I know God answered my innocent little prayer. Right before going in to DB, I had asked Him to help us find the right dress without too much commotion. We ended up getting all that for the price of $30 instead of $100+something because of sales.
Even though this week was truly difficult for me emotionally, physically and mentally, when I look at everything in hindsight (including fun times with my mom and friends), I just can't seem to keep my eyes on the negative. Rather, my heart leaps for joy because I know that I have been blessed far beyond my expectations. God has my life in His hands and He loves me so. And He loves YOU. :)
Which bridesmaid dress/es do you like?
If you went through this process already (or not), what's one mini-heart attack I could save myself in the future? Any tips or suggestions?
How was YOUR week? Anything good/bad you'd like to share? Feel free to spill the beans!
