August Favorites and Inspirations

by fitforthesoul in

As many of you already know, my posts tend to circle around fitness, health, creative recipes (creative in my opinion at least), and the happenings in my life.  Today, I had this sudden and capricious desire to share with you the things that I’m loving and some things that have caught my eye.  They were all captured with my phone since it's hard to use my regular camera when I'm holding Selah as evidenced below.  I am also thinking of making this monthly favorites and inspirations topic a regular thing, and I’ll hopefully post one up each month!  Enjoy!

Being a new stay at home mom definitely has its quirks!  Sometimes those quirks can entail discovering that Selah can get fussy even when I’m avoiding dairy.  Say what?!  So I’ve been avoiding dairy for nothing?  Okay so, I’m sure that my non-dairy diet still helps her gas troubles to a certain extent—I hope, haha… And sometimes, staying home can also mean discovering the precious little habits that she develops, such as finger sucking to soothe herself to sleep.  It’s so cute because sometimes she misses her fingers altogether and almost pokes her eye!  Not that poking her eye is a good thing.  I promise, I’m a nice mom!

While I was at Target purchasing some gift items for newcomers at our church, Selah was just being her cute and sweet self.  So cute in fact, that a woman walked past us mentioning how adorable she was.  Lo and behold, Selah decided that it was the perfect time to let out a loud gurgle-y poop as the lady was complimenting her!  This is nothing new to me though, because this kind of stuff happens all the time, hah!  Where are her manners?

I was really excited when Katie pointed out the fact that Target sells their own brand of K-Cups now.  Now I don’t know about you, but as much as I love my K-Cups and morning coffee, I also love a good deal because those little stinkers’ cost eventually add up!  Yes I was buying some church related items but I also couldn’t help myself and wound up buying the Toasted Hazelnut flavor.

As if the K-Cups weren’t enough, I also splurged on one of these chairs.  Just kidding!  Smile with tongue out  However, I seriously wouldn’t mind having one of those beauties with the chevron design.  I think Target has come a long long way in their household selection because every time I walk past them I just imagine them sitting in my living room.  Does this happen to anyone else?

I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again.  Even though McDonald’s doesn’t have the best selection when it comes to food, their coffee is so surprisingly good!  Oh, and so are their chocolate dipped cones, but that’s another story.  And this is a wee bit of a side note, but as insignificant as it may sound, I am grateful to God and happy to say that over the years I have become much more lenient on myself.  I used to FEAR adding creamer to my coffee and wouldn’t drink it unless it contained milk or soymilk.  Now, although I still prefer the taste of milk and soymilk over half and half, I’m not picky with what I get.  This isn’t to say that sometimes my disordered mindset doesn’t come back to haunt me, but I am extremely grateful that those days of bondage are long gone.  I think we all have to agree that even when our days of “addiction” or “sinful living” are behind us, the enemy still attempts to strike us with the same silly trap—the only difference is that they come in different packaging.

My favorite drink has always been water, and now that I’m breastfeeding I chug it down like there’s no tomorrow.  Confession:  You don’t want to see me when I’m thirsty and Greg can attest to the fact that I turn into a whole different person.  Smile with tongue out

I’m still sticking to my cardio challenge and have been loving the heart pumping results!  The other day I resumed my Ballet Body workouts as well, and I am already seeing results in the way I feel.  By the way, have any of you tried the cardio challenge?
