I’m sure you already saw this one coming. But how can I NOT POST about the cutest little Minnie Mouse baby in the whole entire world?! I really tried to spare you from the cuteness. I really did, but that plan failed a long long time ago, hehe.
Greg has always been a fan of dressing up for special occasions, like Halloween. As for me? Hmmmm not so much. I guess you could call it laziness of my part but the whole ordeal of finding a costume, trying it on, painting my face, ehhh it’s too much trouble and I don’t really enjoy it!
But when it comes to Selah it’s a whole different story, as you can tell.
Yesterday we had an event at church called Trunk-or-Treat, and many churches out there seem to hold this same event, which is awesome because it provides some family friendly fun for the community!
You might have seen on my Instagram feed how Selah’s ready to partay!
The idea of Trunk-or-Treat is to basically use the car trunk and dress it up in whatever way you like. You can choose to go with a specific theme like cheesy Power Rangers (which I admit I’ve seen every single episode) and even host a simple game before handing out the candy to the kids. The whole community gets to see this fun and flashy event as they pass by, and the trick or treaters go through every car that is giving out the goodies.
Greg got super creative by making this shark character, which surprisingly wasn’t too time consuming! The cool looking eyes are courtesy of yours truly. I thought it was so creative that Greg stuck himself inside the trunk to make it look like he was swallowed whole.
I had no idea what theme I wanted to use so I went for COLORFUL!!!! Since I didn’t have free hands to do this on my own before the event (Selah wanted to be part of the action too), I had a couple high schoolers helping me out. Teenagers make the best helpers when they want to be!
When lunch time came around I was pretty hungry but wanted something light since the pancakes left me with an uncomfortably full belly. Good thing I didn’t have to take TUMS because that’s pretty common due to my stomach issues! Although I have to point out that pregnancy has done wonders for my digestion! Strangely enough, I don’t struggle with them as much as I used to before I had Selah.
I fixed myself a salad with spinach, pickles, tomato, avocado, provolone, all dressed up in Panera Bread’s apple vinaigrette, which by the way, is one of the most delicious dressings in my opinion. I also topped it with two runny eggs.
After doing some heavy load laundry I felt like Selah and I needed to take a little breather outside. However, since we don’t live in the safest neighborhood to walk around we try to go to other nearby places to take a stroll.
The first place that came to mind was the Old Town Torrance neighborhood just a few miles away. I love this place because it reminds me of the streets of Argentina and has a relaxing feel to it! However, there is one thing that makes it a love/hate relationship; it’s the fact that the Torrance Bakery is placed smack dab in the middle of the neighborhood and I always happen to walk straight end up inside.
Today I purchased the Boston Cream Pie and key lime cupcakes, along with an éclair and some cookies. I took a few bites out of the photographed treats and left the rest for Greg, although my stomach kept telling me to do the complete opposite, hah!
Everything lived up to its name, although I wish the Boston Cream cupcake had more uniqueness to it. I’ve never tried Boston Cream Pie before so I can’t say it tasted close to it, but the plain ganache wasn’t anything worth raving about. The key lime and éclair, on the other hand, were perfectly sweet and extremely flavorful.
Well, I have to sign off here because I have one busy weekend ahead of me…but believe me when I say that I always read your comments and appreciate everything you share with me!
Tomorrow I have a women’s conference I’m attending where Darlene Zschech, one of the singers from Hillsong, is speaking for us. I’m so excited and can’t wait to see how the Lord is going to speak to us women!
What do you have planned for this weekend?
Did you grow up dressing up in costumes and celebrating Halloween?
-In Argentina we didn’t do Halloween, so maybe that’s another reason I don’t like to dress up?
What areas near you are “dangerous” because you know you’ll end up spending money or buying way too much food?
