Short & Killer Jog Roping HIIT+Eats

Before I go on to the topic of today’s post, I want to thank you first for the encouraging feedback you provided regarding what topics tickle your fancy here on the blog.  I really had no idea that most of you enjoyed reading everything from healthy eats to random life posts, and everything in between, which includes workout videos featuring my rookie video demeanor, hah! I hope that this year will be full of awesome relationships, character growth, and improvement  on Fit for the Soul.

And as for my meals lately?  It has been way too long since I last shared recipes and healthy meals with you, or so it seems.  I guess I sometimes go through phases of what I like to share with you, and lately it is all about the workout routines!

My breakfast these days mostly consists of cold oatmeal or protein pancakes with the usual suspects on top.

I’ve also been loving plantains almost every morning!  I’m telling you guys…this stuff is amazing because it fills me up more than banana does, but let me warn you that it’s not quite as sweet in case you give it a try and then get disappointed.

Lunch is still a bunch of little things thrown together last minute, as Selah gets more impatient during lunch than breakfast time.  Well, that and the fact that I try to get as many veggies in during the day because that’s when I crave them the most, and that way I can also make sure to get my daily dose of veggies regardless of what dinner might bring. Open-mouthed smile

Last night we ate at one of our favorite spots in Torrance, Angara Indian Restaurant.  Their food is pretty amazing and not too overpriced considering that most Indian restaurants can cost an arm and a leg.  Greg ordered the curry dish with a lot of spice while I got the Tikka Masala, with garlic naan and rice as our sides.  Too delicious!!!

It is amazing how one of Selah’s favorite new toys is actually a super old one!  Greg’s mom has so  many keepsakes stored up in a huge trunk at their home, and most of those involve Greg’s old albums and childhood toys.  This little Fisher-Price drum with a xylophone on the other side is so simple but great for teaching Selah!  And keeping her calm and entertained.  Read—while she loves to tap the xylophone with the stick, she also loves to “eat” the toy alive.

Also, have any of you noticed how well toys were made back then?!  It seems like nowadays everything is made of cheap plastic and doesn’t last over a year sometimes, but this 30+ year drum is alive and well after all this time.

Short & Killer Jog-roping Routine

Just what exactly is “Jog-Roping”, you ask?

It is simply an Ellie term referring to jumping rope in a jogging motion.  You basically go forward and backward while jumping and although it sounds extremely intimidating, it is actually quite enjoyable.  For the Scissor jumping motion you can refer back to this video for the demonstration.

If it seems like I’m obsessed with the jump rope, then you are certainly right about that!  And I explain why in this video.
