The {Not So} Glamorous Side

by fitforthesoul in

I hope you’re having a fabulous and blessed Thursday so far! I’m pretty pumped for today’s post because I’m oddly eager to show you the not so glamorous side when it comes to blog related things.  Actually, these things may be related to blogging…but to be honest, I know for a fact that I’d still enjoy these hobbies even without Fit for the Soul.  Putting everything up on this site is just an extra push and motivation to be more proactive with them, and that’s one of the reasons why I’m so thankful to have this platform to share with you.

So this little blog has a lot to do with how much I try to practice baking, cooking, photographing, creating fresh workouts, and so on.  And even though the final result of it all is usually good or at least somewhat decent (in my opinion), it’s not always sparkles and rainbows because I have way more failures than successes.  D’oh.

Oh well, ya live and learn? Winking smile

Recipes and Taste Testing

1.  Failed recipe from yesterday, boooooo.  Well, I wouldn’t say it was a complete fail…because  I think it still tastes scrumptious and super nutty just the way I like baked goods, but the texture is extremely off and doesn’t live up to its name.  So if you were to ask me to make a post out of it I’d say, “nuhh-uhhh!”  Because I like to keep my friendships and credibility, you know?

And in case you were wondering, no they’re not cookies, haha.

Someday I truly hope I can be a baking and cooking master like these amazing ladies, though!

2.  But there are times when I hit the recipe jackpot and the second I begin to taste test I just know it’s a success!

Hazelnut Cookiewich with Mocha Cream Cheese Filling {Gluten Free} that I made in August of 2012 [Recipe here].  Oh my, time flies!

Banana Cake with Coconut Chocolate Avocado Cream {vegan+gf} which was my breakfast, snack, and even dinner sometimes. [Recipe here]

1.  As much as I’d love to be good at dancey type of workouts and enjoy them, I’m just not at the point in my life where I can do that!  I’ve always considered myself to have two left feet and dancing to anything intimidates me so much—unless it’s twirling to “The Hills are Alive” like a crazy lady.

Not that I do that on a daily basis.

I have terrible body rhythm and coordination, so keeping it strictly Barre, yoga, HIIT circuits, running, jump roping, is where it’s at.  I know that workouts like Zumba are extremely popular nowadays, and I really admire people who can bust out a move to that kind of routine, but something about choreographed moves intimidate the life out of me.  I’ve tried that method and it’s definitely not my style, but that’s okay because we can’t like everything in life.

Now we’re talking!  Surprisingly one of my favorites.

Photographing Stuff

1.   There are times when the subject and lighting are all way off.  That, or the subject isn’t necessarily cooperating with my selfish “please pose nicely for me” requests, hah!  There are several people that I truly look up to when it comes to photography--Esther Lee and Rika being two of them--and I’m trying to find my niche, so to speak.

I find that we don’t have to be confined to one style of photography and definitely have the freedom to try different variations!  But we all have our preferences and Esther+Rika’s works seem to strike a chord deep within my soul.

Do I sound too dramatic?  I do?  Ahem, sorry about that. Haha.

2. And then there is that one time when everything works out just fine within a matter of a few minutes.  A rare occurrence, but such a fun (and cute) reward!  Not that she’s ever not cute.

Oh how I miss chilling out in nature!  Must do it again very soon.

Now tell me, you guys.

What are some successes and “failures” you’ve had recently?  It can be anything and don’t worry, there’s no judging here! Winking smile

If you were to become a fitness instructor, what area would you specialize in?

What style of photography would you pursue if you were a professional?

-I think I’m starting to love a medium of hopeful+moody all at the same time.  I don’t know…that’s the vibe and emotion I get from the photographers I look up to.

Who inspires you when it comes to your passions and hobbies?
