Growing up I had always dreamed of traveling to third world countries where, without the help of a husband or significant other, I would do a great million things for the world. I had lofty dreams. I wanted to leave a mark not just for myself but in order to strengthen someone else's life, and if all such things failed, I at least wanted to marry someone and do well. That's not a terrible thing to chase after, after all. That desire to marry came and went throughout my youth because if I were to be honest with myself, I was afraid I would never meet the right kind of person...much less, a man who would father my hopeful potential children the way I wanted. My dad, a man who put his loyalty to family first before everything else, and yes, even friends, set a standard quite difficult to surpass.
The moment Greg and I began to lightly converse about future children during our courting years, my doubts of parenthood dissolved into a blessed assurance. As I fast forward to today I have tears of joy (not kidding) when I reflect on the blessings I've found in our little clan of four. It's the trivial things in life that get me every time. Be that as it may, I find continual wonder and admiration in my heart towards the example Greg has set for Selah and Tabitha. On the days when there is nothing left to give, he goes out of his way to teach little Tabby how to crawl. Silly songs and motions ensue as Selah demands more of his attention, being daddy's girl and a rascally four year old. I constantly try to figure out the fount of his youth and love for the three of us, and with Father's Day approaching I'm once again renewed with admiration for all that he does. As our story unfolds, I realize it has become a multi-faceted adventure of sorts, and I can't wait to see where God would take us next.
We all come from different backgrounds and have a story to tell. But if you would allow me to take a wild guess, one thing remains true: we all want to show the special man in our lives (dad, significant other) our utmost appreciation--or, at least, we aspire to.
I want my readers to know one thing, and that is the fact that I want to remain rather selective of partnership opportunities for this humble space of mine. I was immediately astounded by JORD Wood Watches' pieces when they made their presence known to me. Their idea of aesthetics is best described as timeless, original, and familiar. Contrary to popular belief that leather and steel straps are the only ones that hold up, their wooden straps are surprisingly sturdy and comfortable for everyday wear. Greg, being one of the pickiest people I know when it comes to watches, was excited to partner up with JORD for Father's Day. We both found it difficult to choose "the watch" for him because if one were to take a look at their website, there are too many beautiful designs to choose from.
Since he already has a timeless watch that goes pretty much with anything, especially his formal Sunday attire, we both agreed to take a slightly wilder route. His Dover Olive & Acacia watch is the perfect combination of classic and fun, and perhaps the most unique watch he's ever owned up to date. JORD also offers the option of engraving a special message in their pieces for those of us who appreciate personalized gifts. A non-essential quirk is that all of JORD's watches come in the most beautiful packaging--perfect for a gift and better yet, for Father's Day. As an addition, it comes equipped with essential care tools and thorough instructions which, I'm assuming, most of us can use for such a unique little gift.
As JORD and From Scratch, Mostly has partnered up for a Father's Day campaign, we want to extend to you a giveaway opportunity for From Scratch, Mostly readers and friends from all over the globe! They are kindly supplying the winner with $100 towards any watch on their website. And for anyone who signs up in the link I will provide below, he or she will win $25 towards any watch regardless of who the winner is.
