Three years ago yesterday, we said our vows and committed our lives to each other at the altar before God, friends and family. As Greg and I enjoyed an epic meal at Duke's to celebrate this blessed day, we reminisced on all the ups and downs we've endured since the moment we stepped foot on beautiful Kauai (by the way, we can't wait to go back!!!). We of course are far from being the ideal, and much less the exemplary family that we always strive to be. But the challenges are what make us stronger because iron truly sharpens iron! Heat molds. Heat burns. But heat makes you harder than steel and makes your wonderful qualities outshine everything else.
Our hope in the days to come is for us to be the best walking illustration of God's love and faithfulness. Not only to Selah, but to the world around us because we have too good of a thing to keep hidden under the covers! One would think that when emotions run dry everything is as good as over, but you know what? We've discovered that life together has become so much more exciting, so much more fulfilling, and much more hopeful than ever before. I guess commitment really is like working out. You see the results when you are intentional with each other--even when the world caves in. Even when times are oh-so-good. Even when it's neither bad nor good. Hmm...I would say Jerry Maguire had it all wrong. It's God who completes the both of us and we can't wait to see what He'll do next. Cheers to 3 years and hopefully 60 more to come! ;)
